Start on Success was launched in 1994 in response to the high unemployment and underemployment statistics among people with disabilities. The program offers students an early introduction to the workplace and enables them to learn skills that will allow for a future of independence and self-sufficiency. It also demonstrates to employers that these young people can become a highly-valued resource in the workplace.
This program is a year-round initiative funded by the Philadelphia Youth Network. The program creates a partnership between Communities In Schools of Philadelphia, Inc., the School District of Philadelphia, the National Organization on Disability and the Marriott Foundation’s Bridges from School to Work Program.
